Events and Fundraisers

This was an ABATE sanctioned motorcycle ride with police escort.  We greatly thank Rob Bishop and O'Reilly Raceway Park of Indianapolis for graciously allowing us the privilege to start our first charity ride at their awesome facility. We had breakfast provided by Mr. Mike Gale, owner of Daylight Donuts in Greenwood and other local restaurant contributors. Tony Guildner provided music and emcee services for the morning's events. Once everyone was registered, an invocation was given by Bob Hills, Chaplin of IRL Ministries. We had three Cub scouts from our local Scout Pack #612 present an American flag donated by the American Legion #252. Also donated were an Indiana state flag and custom made poles for the ceremony from A Specialties of Indianapolis. These  boys came to help us and in return got the opportunity to earn a cub scout badge and now have the items they need to continue earning that badge for the other cub scouts to come through their pack. We had a very inspiring solo of The Star -Spangled Banner performed by Johnny B. on Electric Guitar. Finally, after reading a Proclamation from our Governor to the bikers, our new friend to the Wiggle Room-  Geoff Dodge, Sprint Car driver for Throckmorton/Morgan Racing - announced to our riders to "start their engines" as the tree of lights on the drag strip were set to light our bikers for a green-light start to their 2 hour ride.

The bikers reported it as a beautiful day for a ride through four counties starting in Hendricks and riding through Putnam, Morgan  and Johnson counties were they finally arrived at Pleasant Grove Elementary School under an awesome balloon arch made and donated by Applebee's Restaurant of Center Grove.

The school was holding a community festival  and Wiggle Room flags were waved by patrons of the festival to welcome the bikers. We had lunch from Chick Fil A of Greenwood and side items donated by other various restaurants. After lunch, a ride-in bike show took place with three biker judges along with three "Biker Buddy Judges". Our buddy judges were kids from our community and they helped the grownup judges pick the best bikes and helped hand out the trophies and ribbons for the top three winners. The Indy Z Car Club put on a very nice " People's Choice Car Show" which also drew good numbers and helps raise money for our cause. A silent auction, Corn hole tournament, Karaoke contest, square dancing and live music performed by local band Generation Gap were also highlights to the day. Our National Guard and Patriot Riders put on a very nice display along with our local White River Fire Department. We even had a great success with our dunk tank which had no shortage of brave volunteers including Pleasant Grove students along with school counselor, Mr Meek and their new principal, Mr. Kelly. Our area girl scout troop was also a huge help with their volunteer effort to run ALL of the kid's games for the day. That, and including some very cool vendors, made for a perfect day for a festival.

We should have photos from the day's events posted on our website soon.

The project money raised now is approximately $5100.00. Our next plan is to do some small fund raising efforts through Zoo Book sales and start application processing for grants to raise more money for our fund. We are also looking at design plans for our "flagship" Wiggle Room at Pleasant Grove Elementary. The tentative plan is to work with the school administrators and hopefully have our first room started and dedicated by January 2009. We will keep you posted on those developments as the happen.

All in all, we did very well for our first year out and we are already planning for next year's event to be bigger and better ! Please check for event updates as we will post changes as they occur. And look for our ride next year because we will need everyone's continued participation and support to make our goal a reality. We had so many who contributed so generously to this effort and we want to thank each and every one of them. Be sure to check out our Sponsor page for a full list of Sponsors and supporters.
